Why should I use pumpkin as a face mask?
Pumpkin isn’t just great to eat in the fall or around thanksgiving time – it’s a great ingredient to your natural skin care recipes all year round.
There are many important benefits that pumpkin has to offer, but the most beneficial are:
** Pumpkin is naturally hydrating WITHOUT leaving an oily residue. It is safe to use on oily skin or acne-prone skin.
** Pumpkin is rich in Vitamin A, C and zinc and contains anti-aging properties.
** Pumpkin reduces lines and wrinkles
Here’s a sample of some basic pumpkin natural skin care recipes for you to try and see the results for yourself.
2 teaspoon canned pureed pumpkin
½ teaspoon honey
¼ teaspoon heavy whipping crème
This is great to hydrate dry skin. Mix all ingredients and leave on face for 10-15 minutes.
Honey is a humectants that hydrates, tones and tightens skin, and the heavy whipping crème contains natural lactic acid to exfoliate the skin. All three work together in harmony to give you awesome looking skin.
Alternative mask for oily skin:
Use ¼ teaspoon apple cider (high in alpha hydroxyl acid ) OR ¼ teaspoon cranberry juice (high in antioxidants) added to the pumpkin and honey mixture. Mix all ingredients and leave on 10-15 minutes.
HOW ABOUT AN EXFOLIATING PUMPKIN MASK:
3 tablespoons pumpkin puree
1-2 teaspoons brown sugar
Squirt of honey
Mix ingredients and leave on face for 10-15 minutes
Brown sugar added to the pumpkin puree and honey give you a great exfoliating mask. Granulated sugar and brown sugar are wonderful exfoliants.
