Keeping your complexion healthy and radiant is one of the easiest and smartest things you can do for yourself.  And spending a fortune on expensive products these days ,in my opinion,  is just plain unnecessary.

There are plenty of things from the garden, plants in your yard, or basic products found at the supermarket that can moisturize, cleanse, and exfoliate your skin to leave you looking younger and glowing.

You can get started on your own natural skin care recipes by just opening up your kitchen cupboard.

So simple, so cost-effective   – wow !  You can battle aging skin , wrinkles,  eye puffiness,  crow’s feet,  dry skin and oily skin problems and much more using natural items right from your kitchen. Learn how to make cleaners,  masks,  facial scrubs, toners, rosacea treatments and much more in just minutes.  Get ready for a more beautiful you !

Just to get you started , I’m going to tell you some of the easiest home recipes to try today.  There are so many recipes that I can’t share all them with you , but here’s a few of the basics to get you off to a good start.

Potato Cleanser (for dry skin or eczema)   Rub your face with a raw slice of potato.  Potatoes contain juice with vitamin C that is mild and soothing.  The juice thoroughly cleanses and tones your skin.  Rinse well and pat dry.
English Tea Astringent ( to cleanse and tone your skin)
Tea is a very powerful antioxidant found in many beauty  products.   Pick your favorite tea – green, orange, pekoe, jasmine – take ¼ cup boiling water and pour over 2 teabags and allow to steep for at least an hour. Combined the cooled tea with ¼ cup witch hazel and 1 teaspoon lemon juice (lemon juice is optional for oily skin).  Stir mixture well and pour into clean bottle.  Apply to clean skin with cotton ball or pad.

Simple Banana mask  (used for dry skin)  Mash and stir a banana in a bowl until it is smooth and creamy.  Apply to face for approx. 10 minutes.  Rinse well with warm water and pat skin dry.  Discard what you don’t use.
OR  you can also make a banana mask by using 2 teaspoon banana, 1 teaspoon milk and 1 teaspoon honey. Apply to face for approx. 10 minutes. Rinse well with warm water and pat skin dry.   Milk and honey also smooth the skin.

Vitamin E (for wrinkles)  Take the strongest vitamin E tablet you can find and dissolve it in ½ teaspoon boiling water. Let water cool until comfortable to the touch. Add it to a small amount of eye cream – pat gently under the eye and around the mouth.  Vitamin E is a topical antioxidant that’s been proven to prevent oxidation of tissue.

For Enlarged pores, try a packet of raw sugar with enough lemon juice to make it spreadable, and rub into nose and chin area where large pores tend to settle.  Rinse with warm water.  Raw sugar is a natural glycolic acid that loosens dirt and dead skin.

Natural Skin Care Recipes What Does Oil Free Mean

Oil-Free is a meaningless claim meant to mislead consumers into buying a product that can actually clog pores.  There are plenty of products don’t sound like oils, but they can aggravate breakouts.   Simple moisturizing ingredients that are great for dry skin can wreak havoc on someone with oily skin or regular breakouts.

Triglycerides, palmitate, stearates, myristates, stearic acid, plant oils (like jojoba oil), plant waxes, shea butter, Vitamin E, acrylates and many other ingredients can all clog pores.  These ingredients are used in moisturizers because they duplicate the natural lipids (sebum/oil) in our skin, which is great, UNLESS you happen to be having problems with the sebum being created in your pores,  adding more of the same kind of substance will only make things worse.  These ingredients show up in lots of so-called “oil free” products.
Many products claim to be “noncomedogenic” or “nonacnegenic” and maybe you have bought these products only to find out that they caused breakouts.  These terms are now being replaced with” hypoallergenic” on cosmetic labels.  These are all meaningless terms, just like Oil-Free.  The ingredient list is the place to go to find out whether a product may put your skin at risk.
