Natural Skin Care Don't Pay For The Jar

I recently read some articles that I feel I HAVE to share with you .

One of the most recent was about a woman who was suing Proctor & Gamble because she bought a wrinkle cream that didn’t show results in the promised time frame….Well, okay. Are you surprised by this? I think I’d feel lucky to just get my money back and consider it a “learning experience”.

Also, recently I am finding articles about more and more anti-aging products that  contain MERCURY as an ingredient. Okay..well, that is a real scary  scenario if you ask me ! Makes me even more cautious about what I buy to put on my face.!

And the latest… well, try to wrap our brain around this one.   I found an article about a cosmetic company that is releasing a “limited edition moisturizing cream that promises to REDUCE fine lines and wrinkles – at the cost of $13,000.00.  Yes…this IS NOT a typographic error !  $13,000.00.  The article goes on to explain the the cream is currently being sold for $632.00 ( 1.8 oz package), but they are putting out 3 jars of it (Limited Edition)  “which will be sold in limited packaging as the moisturizer is encased in 30 layers of crystal and housed in a handmade jar topped with 3 PLATINUM RINGS!  They go on to explain about the fancy jar, but make no reference to the product contained INSIDE the jar.

I am not sharing this with you to cause more frustration, and I don’t “have it in” for major cosmetic companies, BUT, MY DEAR FRIENDS, Cosmetic companies are out to make money and are NOT “genuine in their advertising promises !  WE ALL KNOW THIS, but yet we are guilty of having hope – and “let me try just ONE MORE TIME to see if maybe this one will work” surfaces again.   And guess what? Disappointment and frustration again.

So where does this leave us ?  Hopeless, angry, defeated,  and ready to just accept what mother nature has to throw at us ?

I THINK NOT !!!
THERE IS AN ALTERNATIVE.

What you ask? …. It’s simple.

Here are a few simple recipes to get you started using Cucumbers:

Use as a wash for acne -
**  Peel a cucumber and put in a bowl of water. Leave sit for about an hour. Pick out the cucumbers and use the water to wash your face.

**  for sensitive skin – try an extra gentle cucumber/yogurt mask:
     ¼ cup yogurt
    ¼ cucumber, peeled

Place yogurt and cucumber in a blender or food processor and puree until smooth.
Pour into bowl and use a cotton pad to get the mask all over your face.
Leave on for about 10 minutes and rinse off.

Feel like your having a day at the spa… how about some spa water?

Mix up a batch of this while you’re doing your own spa treatment :
1 cucumber
½ lemon
Water
Peel the cucumber and slice into big pitcher of water.
Slice the lemon half into rounds and add to the pitcher as well.
Fill pitcher with water and chill in the refrigerator for at least one hour.  After pouring yourself a glass of spa water, you can refill to make more. ( After 24 hours, toss the old batch and start on a fresh one) .
You can also add sliced apple or pear to recipe if you desire.

DID YOU KNOW…..

Not everyone NEEDS or should be using MOISTURIZERS, especially woman  with oily skin, combination skin, or acne-prone skin.  Woman with dry skin only need one moisturizer (not including sunscreen).

Moisturizers are the most misunderstood, misused and abused product.  Things tend to get out of control in the cosmetic industry ( fancy bottles, high pricing and all kinds of promises)…and a lot of woman tend to overuse moisturizers, which can cause some surprising skin problems.

Most woman still believe moisturizers prevent wrinkles, and the mistaken notion that dry skin is more prone to wrinkles than oily skin , and is firmly planted in the consumer with a large selection of toning, lifting, and repairing crèmes, gels and lotions.

The only reason to use a moisturizer is if you have dry skin, or wrinkled skin that you want to smooth out ( moisturizers can smooth over, but not changed wrinkles).
If you have oily skin that breaks out, the worst thing to do is moisturize.  Pores get clogged and blackheads develop.  Dead skin cells get trapped and have a harder time naturally sloughing off (which makes your skin look dull).   You are also at a high risk of getting patches of dermatitis, increasing the number of breakouts and creating your own combination skin predicament.

So…How do I know if I need to Moisturize?

As a general rule, if you are using a mild cleanser and no other irritating skin products, and your skin feels dry after about 20-30 minutes after you wash your face, yo9u probably need to moisturize. If you skin feel tight, dehydrated, taut, or uncomfortable from dryness by mid-day or the end of the day, then it is essential to moisturize.  If you have fine lines that improve with a moisturizer, especially around the eyes, than go ahead with moisturizing.  Bear in mind that it is always best to use the most lightweight moisturizer possible.

The point:  If none of these problems are present, than you don’t have to moisturize.
